Autumn is a beautiful and flamboyant time of year. Leaf peepers ogle brilliant red, orange and yellow trees while chilly breezes caress apple cheeked children waiting with starry eyes for the approaching holidays. Halloween is one of those holidays and perhaps it's most mysterious and colorful. Ghosts, goblins, witches and other strange creatures of the night materialize for their annual ritual of trick or treating. Haunted houses, scary movies, bags of candy and costume parties are just a few eleMents that mark this peculiar holiday. Remember Bela Lugosi and Boris karloff on the old silver screen? They brought Dracula and Frankenstein to life in ways we could never imagine. Indeed some of us love the idea of haunted houses and scary movies so much we wish to incorporate it into our own magical moMent when we say I do.

Planning a haunted house wedding can be terrific fun and something you and your beloved will enjoy and remember for all your years to come. First of all find your self a rickety old house, something in the Norman Bates style would do nicely. Older houses and dwellings can be found everywhere. Next you need to decide on how you wish to decorate and this is really fun. For a haunted house, fluttering curtains, creaking doors, lights and shadows play a unique and intriguing part in setting the sTAGe for atmosphere. In the old parlor sprinkle dust, string a few spider webs and set drippy candles through out to give the true feel of a haunted house. You can choose whatever colors you desire, who said it had to be orange and black? If the house has a stAircase adorn it with garlands and dim lights for a dramatic entrance.

After you have decided on decorations it's now time to choose your wedding atTire. For a haunted house bride you might enjoy Dressing up as Frankenstein's bride, remember her? A silky flowing gown with a flowing train and a satin sash would be quiet elegant or you might prefer to Dress up Morticia style in a tight lace gown. This gown can be white, black or any color you desire. Add a lace veil and you will be truly haunting. Carry violets, white roses, or lilies and discreetly weave a small black spider into the petals, your choice of flower colors is enTirely up to you. Your bridesmaids should dress in flowing gowns as well, pale lavender with purple sashes is one idea you might contemplate. Ask your guests to come dressed in a costume of their choice, lots of ghosts, pirates, witches a Dracula and Jack the ripper would add drama.

The groom might dress in black tails with a white shirt. Your tux can be white or black and your groomsMen should dress in similar fashion. For added drama a flowing cape and top hat would be quiet elegant. A complimentary flower of the bride's bouquet should be Fastened on your lapel.

When sending out invitations to your friends and family you might send tombstone shaped invitations or vellum invitations with a dramatic red seal.

Now it's time to decide on the reception. Decorate your reception area with more dust, spider webs and silver candelabras with drippy candles should be placed in all corners of the room. Place a zombie and mummy in the corner. Throw up a few bats and skeletons and perhaps red eyes glowing from the corners of the room would contribute more atmosphere.. For centerpieces you might choose ferns and white lilies draped over miniature coffins or tombstones placed on table Cloths woven into spider webs. On the main table place an old Cauldron and fill with water and flowers of your choice. Beside each guest's plate add a small wedding favor, perhaps some drippy candles embellished with spiders or how about a dagger style letter opener, so many unique favors are available. Your bar area might include glowing lights and dry ice to give off that foggy appearance, add this spooky effect around the dance floor as well. If you have chosen a band or orchestra, have them dress up in costumes, perhaps zombies or pirates. Food can be anything you like. Lobsters or crabs in butter sauce, red velvet cake, sweet and sour chicken placed in ghost or skeleton plates, sauteed vegetables, cookies and ice cream in different colors and shaped like spiders, ghosts, monsters. Menu ideas are unlimited. For your spirits, of course champagne, vodka, rum and martinis and wine served in goblets. Your haunted house wedding can truly be the wedding of your dreams with the right imagination and detail.
